Case Study: Derwenlas

This Grade II listed small farmhouse of historic interest is now becoming well known across the UK. The SPAB often uses its sunny facade to illustrate Welsh houses. Built of soft local Cilgerran slate, it was suffering dreadfully inside and out from inappropriate modern repairs and even from a liberal dose of cement washing applied in the 1930s. It was repaired with lime putty plaster, mortar and wash.
